Can peace journalism make progress?

Shinar, D. (2009). Can peace journalism make progress? The International Communication Gazette, 71(6), 451-471.

Shinar (2009) also describes how war and peace journalism occur. He uses different categories in which either war journalism or peace journalism can be placed. Shinar assesses Galtung’s four indicators of peace journalism and elaborates them. War journalism is more prominent in the news papers than peace journalism in the Lebanon war coverage in 2006. This article is important for this study, because it determines which aspects of the indicators of Galtung are frequently used by journalist and those that seem less dominant in peace journalism. These finding support the research in which frames occur most frequently in peace journalism.
